Join our close-knit off-grid community as an inspiring and caring teacher, guiding four bright and wild children on an exciting educational journey. Nestled in the woods and surrounded by tens of thousands of acres of protected wilderness, our community of sweet, nature-loving folks is seeking a passionate individual to provide structure, engagement, and creative nature-based education. With a focus on child-led learning, we aim to support the children's innate skills, deepen their interests, and foster a sense of rhythm and routine in their lives.

Come embrace the wonders of community, children, and wilderness in Southern Oregon with us! Help us to foster a deep love and understanding of nature through outdoor exploration and meaningful experiences with our children. Enjoy flexible working hours of approximately 20 hours per week and provided housing. This position could be a great fit for someone who is single with a remote job, a young couple, or a single parent who would like to homeschool and have some other kids along for the ride. You must be adaptable and willing to embrace the ways of an off-grid lifestyle! We are open to consider all applicants with varying levels of experience and backgrounds. It’s important to us that you are paid fairly for your contribution and we would like to base compensation on your experience level. Let’s chat about it!

We seek to follow the model of positive discipline to cultivate a culture of respect, kindness, and cooperation with our children. The ideal candidate would be familiar with these methods or be open to familiarizing themselves with them. Open and honest communication is important to us. We would like to be engaged in regular conversation with you and receive updates on our children’s progress and to address any concerns or problems.

In this role you would:

  • Guide 3 young boys ages 3, 6, & 7 and one 4 year old girl from two different families living in the community for approximately 20 hrs each week.
  • Develop and implement a nature-infused curriculum, blending project-based learning with structured lessons in math, writing, art, and science.
  • Nurture a safe and inclusive environment where each child feels seen, supported, and encouraged to express their unique gifts.
  • Embrace the principles of Waldorf education, infusing wonder, creativity, and imagination into the children's learning experiences.
  • Share your knowledge of whatever you are passionate about in life! That may be primitive skills, natural building, music making, cooking, gardening, and more!
  • Collaborate closely with our two families, honoring our beliefs about children and tailor your educational approach in a style that aligns.

To apply please submit a picture of yourself and a cover letter expressing your interest and how your skills and beliefs align with our community and educational approach. Feel free to include a resume of relevant experience and contact information for references. Some questions we would love you to answer in your letter are: Why do you think you’d be a good fit? Why do you feel drawn to the position? What are your beliefs about children? What do you think children should learn? How would you approach resolving conflicts in an educational setting?

We look forward to hearing from you!
