Nevada Sage Waldorf School is seeking an experienced Business Manager to join our dedicated administration, board and faculty. We are seeking a like-minded colleague who is committed to collegial collaboration, self-development, and excellence. 

The Business Manager is responsible for all financial matters of the school’s operations including budget development and management, overseeing all school purchasing, and tuition assistance and scholarship programs. S/he collaborates with the Administrative Director, the Finance Committee, and the Board of Trustees in overseeing the financial and operational elements of the school.

This is a full-time, salaried position. The Business Manager reports to the Administrative Directors.  


OVERVIEW

Financial responsibilities include

  • Analyzing the school’s finances, including budget-to-actual analysis, and understanding trends and forecasting.
  • Working with the bookkeeper, using standard accounting and bookkeeping procedures to keep an accurate continuous record of the cash and financial position of the school. 
  • Reporting to faculty and board regarding class expenditures and up-to-date operating statements, respectively.
  • Leading the development of the annual budget.
  • Assisting in developing and communicating school’s financial policies and procedures. 

  


RESPONSIBILITIES  

Budget Management

  • Annual budget development
  • Financial controls oversight
  • Provide quarterly and annual reports to Board Treasurer 


Purchasing System Management 

  • Oversight of purchasing system 
  • Provide monthly Supply Fee Budget expense reports to lead teachers 


Financial Document Management

  • Tuition & Fee Worksheet 
  • Financial Contract
  • Summer Program Tuition & Fee Worksheet
  • Summer Program Financial Contract
  • Financial Policy Manual


Tuition Assistance and Scholarship Program Management

  • Primary contact for NSWS families for tuition assistance and scholarship programs
  • Conversations about TA program and scholarship application requirements
  • Assist families to complete applications as needed
  • Primary contact for TADS, TADS management
  • Primary contact for scholarship organizations
  • Create and execute Tuition Assistance Addendums
  • Maintain Tuition Assistance & Scholarship Tracking document
  • Complete and submit scholarship reports for DOE


Teacher Training Program Management

  • Primary contact for teachers regarding financial questions about teacher training 
  • Primary contact with Teacher Training Institutes
  • Responsible for Title II grants and grant reporting


Human Resources

  • Supports HR process


Leases, License and Insurance

  • Building lease management; communicate with landlord regarding buildings and grounds issues
  • Primary contact for all regulatory agencies; ensures all licenses are renewed annually
  • Oversight of insurance policies


Participation

  • Finance Committee Chair 
  • Monthly Board Meetings 


Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, or finance. 
  • 5 years of experience in financial, accounting, or operational management.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel, QuickBooks, and other financial/accounting software 
  • Preferred skills - CPA or MBA with familiarity with GAAP nonprofit accounting.
  • Must pass a federal background check and return a negative TB test

  • Experience with nonhierarchical, collaborative leadership.
  • Proactive attitude to build strong working relationships with the Administrative Team, Board, Faculty, and parents.
  • Ability to confront difficult issues head-on in a calm, professional manner, and offer solutions.
  • Strong interest in education, especially alternative models.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and in person.


Compensation & Benefits

$60,000 annually. Benefits include health insurance, financial support for professional development, and tuition remission.
